NOTES
The chassis markings have usually been painted over
and with the exception of the 4 and 8 Litres will need
scraping.
The chassis number is not always stamped on the gear
box front cross member in the 3 and 4 1/2 Litres, nor
the engine number always on the magneto cross shaft
housing.
The chassis number can also sometimes be found on the
front axle beam and on the top of the rear axle nose
piece but as these parts are easily changeable they
are not conclusive.
"S" after the engine number indicates a Service
replacement engine.
"SS" after an engine number indicates the
Super Sports engine as fitted to the 9' chassis. In
1926 the specification of this engine became the Standard
Speed Model engine.
