3 Litre Clutch |
|
|
|
Some attention may be necessary
to the clutch and if it is inclined to be
fierce, it should be pushed out and a little
graphite grease inserted between the clutch
ring and cone, with a thin blade in four
or five places. If on the other hand the
clutch sticks, or becomes difficult to engage
some petrol squirted onto the face of the
lining will probably cure the trouble.
If the clutch is slipping it is essential
to make sure that there is at least a quarter
of an inch clearance between the clutch
pedal and the boards, at the point where
the pedal comes up through them. If there
is no clearance between the base of the
pedal and the boards, remove the boards
and undo the nut at the pedal base, so that
the eccentrics give the pedal more clearance.
If this is not the cause of the trouble
then the eight nuts on the outside flange
of the flywheel, holding the clutch ring
in position should be removed and the ring
drawn off. This allows a clear view of the
clutch lining and if greasy it should be
washed off with petrol, and then roughened
up with a coarse file.
