Memories of 1928 Bentley 6½ Litre - UC 4237

Contributed by David Keen

"I maintained and drove this Bentley UC 4237 with my friend Graham Read from 1965 to 1977. I drove this car in the Snowball run to mark 50 years of Bentleys in 1969. Both Graham and I met WO and attended his 80th birthday celebrations. We would like to know where the car is now and hope we may see it again at the Bentley Centenary events in 2019." Seen above is the daughter of former owner Anthony Balden, a long time Bentley enthusiast (BDC member #55!) in the early eighties maybe. She took over the car from her father at a point that he decided it was time to pass on the steering wheel. The Bentley was in a bright dove-grey livery. In our view a color doing more justice to the very rare All Weather Corsica coachwork to make it stand out in a gathering of a BRG LeMans style tourers. But that issue of course is up to a new owner, now that Mrs. Balden has decided to say farewell to the car at last. (Source: PreWarCar in 2006)
