Once seats were made lower, it was necessary to make a cut-out in the driver’s “door” so that he could reach the outside handbrake. After handbrakes and gear-levers moved inside the bodywork, the fashion continued even though the need for the feature had passed.   The chassis number stamped on the inside of the bonnet shows that this was one item of bodywork made at the factory rather than by the coachbuilder.
 
Trim in sporting cars was relatively spartan, being little more than carpet laid on wooden boards.
