Whilst working on a RR Silver Wraith 2 in 2014 I was asked if I could look at the 8 litre as they could not change gears on the car, which turned out to be the clutch brake lining having the rivets touching the disc metal to metal. A new friction material and correct adjustment and there were no more problems. Ronnie Khan's son Darab Khan told me that no one in the family had driven the car since its acquisition in 1968. (Darab Khan, Owner, 26th Sep 2016: "The car has been driven a few times since its refurbishment in 2010.") Whilst back in India May-June this year (2016) I had another look at the car, and the carburettors had been removed and sent to SU for overhaul, and so were not fitted at the time. |
