Robert C. McLellan - Founder
I
was born in Newport News, Virginia, and have resided
in Houston, Texas, since 1968. After earning two degrees
in geology (University of North Carolina, 1966, and
University of Nebraska, 1968), I took my first job in
the petroleum industry only to be drafted shortly
afterwards into the U. S. Army. After two years in the
Army I worked in oil and gas exploration, rising to
the position of President of Houston Standard Oil, before
the collapse of the price of oil in 1985 sent geologists
searching for new careers.
Throughout a 50+ year interest in sports cars and antique
cars I have enjoyed owning a variety of interesting
marques, including a 1937 Supercharged Cord, 1939 SS
Jaguar, 1952 and 1954 Aston Martins, along with less
exotic but fun cars such as MG, Triumph, Corvair, etc.
But the best of the lot has been the 1925
Bentley 3 Litre Speed Model Tourer which I purchased
in 1981.
I have been enriched by my long association with the
Bentley Drivers Club, Rolls-Royce Owners Club, Classic
Car Club of America and the Veteran Motor Car Club of
America and consider them to be invaluable resources.
At one time I belonged to over 30 car clubs. Currently
I am the BDC Regional Chairman for Texas (includes Louisiana,
Oklahoma and Arkansas). |
