3L Red Label Speed Model
Registration plate YM 6250; Chassis Number AH 1477; Engine Number S818AH; Engine Capacity 3,000 cc; Transmissions Manual 4 speed; Body style Original Vanden Plas Tourer; Interior color Red leather; Exterior color Black; Seating capacity 4; Wheels and Tyres Wire wheels

Body
Original Vanden Plas Tourer body with a raised radiator which results in beautiful proportions and fantastic lines. There are some stress cracks in the aluminium outer skin which can if required by the new owner be attended to by ourselves quite easily. Alternatively just use it.

Mechanical
Drives very well indeed with plenty of tourque. Rolling chassis completely stripped and restored (including engine)in the 1990's. No requirments here apart from routine servicing.

Interior
Believed to be Re-trimmed in the 1950's and now with wonderful patina and in very good order.

Overall comments
A true British vintage car in excellent presentable and original condition that's ready to use.

For sale at Le Riche Automobile Restorers as of June 10, 2009. Price: POA

The car was withdrawn from sale within a few weeks. On Dec 29, 2009 Ian Le Riche wrote to VintageBentleys.org saying, "We did put it for sale last June for a couple of weeks then withdrew the car as we decided to keep it, (A good idea we think)."

This picture shows AH1477 in 1952 when owned by Dr Colin Gledhill in Edingburough who later that year, when moving to Belfast in Ireland, sold the car to Mr David White in Cockburnspath, Berwickshire, for GBP 220.

This very high graded photograph is in fact a copy from a glass negative in a collection of negatives, owned by Mr John Mackinnon in Dalkeith, Midlothian, and was in 1994 among others offered by him to the then owner of AH1477, Mr A. T. Smith in Altringcham, Cheshire.

AH1477 had in 1952 already got a fashionable folding flat windscreen, and the car today still looks as did then, almost 60 years ago.

1930s

"Robert, it is always interesting to have your newsletter. I have some info regarding 3ltr. YM 6250. My mother, Mrs Belle Fraser, bought this car in the mid thirties, I think from a farmer near Kinross called Lawrie, she sold it in 1947 to a man called Bayne, a haulage contractor in Auchterarder near Gleneagles in Perthshire. After that I think you have covered. Incidentally when David Whyte bought her he found my mother's insurance certificate in the door pocket! I have completely lost track of my old car, YM 57, the last I heard was her sale by Gregor Fisken but I know not who the buyer was."
