1926 Bentley 3 Litre Speed Model Fitted With 4½ Litre Engine Vanden Plas Four Seater Tourer

Description

Registration no. . YM 4578
Chassis no. AH1478
Engine no. XL3111

Chassis no. AH1478, originally a 3 litre Speed Model Bentley, first owned by N Ciclitira and registered in January 1926, is fitted with the 4½ litre engine, originally in chassis no. XL3110, a 1928 car originally with saloon coachwork by Freestone Webb. The chassis is fitted with traditional Vanden Plas four seat tourer coachwork and this car epitomises the true British sports car of the 1920s. It is nicely presented in British Racing Green livery with comfortably mellowed red leather upholstery. Marchal headlamps are fitted and the car sits correctly on 21in wheels and features a two-piece folding windscreen with aeroscreens. This car was acquired for the Max Lips Collection in 1968 and comes with copies of old style British log books and other correspondence which should enable its original U.K. registration number to be re-issued. Although unused for some time it is felt that careful recommissioning will see this car back on the road and perhaps competing on the track after the fashion of those cars campaigned by Davis, Birkin and the like.
