"1925 3 litre Speed Model with patinated original 4-seater Sports Coachwork by Vanden Plas"

"We are very pleased to offer this patinated 1925 3-litre from a 26-year ownership. This is Chassis 1066, fitted with earlier engine 675 (non-matching to chassis), "A" Type gearbox and S.U. Sloper carburettors. The original Vanden Plas Sports Coachwork is correct to the car (VDP Job 1153) and recent work includes new leather and carpets and new dashboard. Importantly, the majority of the original upholstery has been preserved alongside the car, and the instrumentation is correct save for the addition of a reproduction rev. counter. The engine, differential and gearbox were rebuilt many years ago by the highly regarded late Cyril Wadsworth and, more recently, the road springs and shackles were rebuilt by Gary Woodhead. The owner has covered limited mileage in his ownership. Original bodied Bentleys are now being recognised as infinitely preferable to reproduction coachwork and we have priced this car sensibly and fairly at £165,000."

Receipt, May 1938

"My father, Alexander (Sandy) McGrady of Broughty Ferry, Dundee owned YK 1360 from May 1938 until he went to France with the British Expeditionary Force at the end of 1939. It was bought for the princely sum of £70. In the above photo, my father is on the right."

"After the war my father bought EL 9524, but my mother-to-be found the clutch too heavy so the car had to go."
