1928 Bentley 4½ Vanden Plas open tourer, S/N FT3221, Engine No. FT3222, Registration No. XV 3694, delivered new to Madam de Bourbon of Paris, FT3221 retains its original body, chassis and engine as noted in Bentley historian Clare Hay’s “Bentley, The Vintage Years,” known history back to new with owners in France, United Kingdom, New Zealand, and USA, the 4 1/2 more recently campaigned in multiple Argentine 1000 miles rallyes, and an absolutely remarkable history file with hundreds of original receipts, owner’s notes, photographs and restorer correspondence throughout the decades dating back to the 1930s. Such a treat for a pre-war Bentley to have its original body, engine and chassis, FT3221 a very special piece indeed and is currently in the USA in a private collection and without question a welcomed participant at any historic event worldwide.

This car was for sale as of May 2010.

The car is owned by Jonathan Savage, in Pawtucket RI.

John Southward of New Zealand purchased this car in 1998.

Chassis no. FT3221 was owned by Don Hinmon from 1970 to 1998.

"Bought in UK and restored it there plus lots of later work and much use here (in the U.S.). I sold it to a nice man from New Zealand, John Southward and it went from there back to the UK. It is now owned by Jonathan Savage, in Pawtucket RI."
