As received: "XT 1606 is always on display in the Musée des 24 Heures du Mans now managed by "Automobile Club de l'Ouest".
It ran perfectly last May for a TV shoot driven by Tom Kristensen, 9th recordman winner Le Mans champion including victory in 2003 at the wheel of Bentley Speed 8."

"Regarding to the collection of cars that we have on display at the museum, they are from three origins:
1) Automobile Club de l'Ouest (now as A.C.O.)
2) Sarthe departement - in which Bentley XT 1606 is part of, because bought by the departement in 2005
3) Private loaners or Brand loaners

As received:
"Hello,
Bought as personal car in 1992 by past Automobile Club de l'Ouest - ACO - Raymond Gouloumes. He sold the car 6 month before to die to the
french department of Sarthe, as an heritage piece to be saved and kept for the
Museum in 2005. Sarthe Departement is actually in charge of the management of the Museum and of the
curation of the collection loaned.
XT 1606 is Kept in order to run, I drove it last time in June 2014 for the 'Friday
Race Parade' with Derek Bell as passenger!"

Francis Piquera

Above photograph
is from Tim Houlding's unique archive
of the 1924 Duff/Clement Le Mans-winning
3-litre chassis 582. Houlding's research
reunited it with its original engine
number 588. The picture is interesting
for several other reasons. The copious
amounts of mud have been applied with
a brush after a dry race. Duff believed
the British public would not appreciate
the magnitude of the victory seeinq
a clean car. The horn ring and aircraft
style switches on the left side of
the dashboard are racing features,
while present-day restorers should
note the somewhat rudimentary fitting
on an additional nearside spare wheel.
