"My late father owned this car, possibly pre-WW2 till c1960 when ill health preceded its sale.

My earliest recollections are 1951 (aged 5, see photo on left) and going on family holidays to Cornwall with only a tonneau cover over the luggage on the back seats, and me sitting on my mother's lap for 3 days! I would be happy to share any further recollections (limited) and see the car again, if possible. I understand the car is still in the UK.

The photo on right is of XI 6264 being 'serviced' at Connal & Co, Transport Contractors, Brand Street, Glasgow. Head Mechanic Willie Broers is tuning the carbs. My late father was a Director of the company and the car was kept at the workshop when not required for family use.

My father was a keen member of the Bentley Drivers' Club in Scotland, and I have a number of his books on the subject.

The Technical Facts of the Vintage Bentley (published 1955)
The Cars on My Life - W O Bentley (1961)
Those Bentley Days - A F C Hillstead (1953)
A Racing History of the Bentley (1921-31) -Darrell Berthon 1956

I also recall that we had a gramophone recording (78rps?) of vintage Bentleys going up and down one of the (disused) runways at the old (I think) Turnberry wartime aerodrome in Ayrshire.

The sound track featured various members' cars from a standing start going up through the gears, with a commentary about the car and the member. I must look and see if I still have it in the attic!"
