1927 Bentley 3/4½ Litre Le Mans
Registration Number: WW 2429 Chassis Number: SR1405 Engine Number: PH1472
Original Engine upgraded to 4½ Litre
"Still retaining its original chassis and engine but
with its gearbox up rated to C Type (in 1934), this very original
vintage Bentley has had a saloon body, then in 1934 a Corsica
Touring body and finally, its present guise a full Le Mans
body.
In 1985 we sold this car, still with its Corsica coachwork
to a Bentley enthusiast who wanted to recreate the first 4½
litre Bentley to be raced by the factory; none other than
"Mother Gun".
To this aim, he obtained from us this 1927 3 litre Tourer
so that the chassis and spec and date would match that of
old "Mother Gun".
Well, that's part one. The next bit took some 5 years to complete.
The rebuild involved lots of research and dedication to the
task but finally as we have here; perfection.
It not only has the looks
but, with new crank, rods, block, etc., a full race prepared
engine of 4½ litre with Sloper carbs and Bosch mags
(the perfect package).
To complete this exceptional package, she is fitted with a
3.3 to 1 Back axle gearing her to the magic ton.
Still with less than 5000 miles since this rebuild we can
strongly recommend this Bentley to anyone interested in rallies,
racing or just a good tour; maybe Peking/Paris?" |
