back on the road following a complete
last nut and bolt restoration. Final
paint and trim to be finished over this
coming winter.
STILL FITTED IN THE CAR...
The original engine DS3552; original
steering box DS3554; original rear axle
DS3554 and new gearbox number 6066 fitted
under guarantee in 1930 when the mileage
was 13,566. |

A "reconditioned
chassis frame" was fitted in 1930
following the third major accident in
3 months. The chassis is stamped DS3554.
A further accident in 1930 resulted
in "new front and stub axles fitted"
- both front stub axles having previously
been replaced in the earlier accidents.
The front axle is stamped DS 3554.
Vanden Plas Order No. 1596 dated 7th
June 1929 was for a "Standard 4
seater Sports" with Hood, Side
Curtains and Tonneau Cover in Black
Mohair. Price £179. net. The order
was completed on 30th June 1929. |

According to original Vanden Plas Coachbuilder
records, this car was originally fitted
with Body No. 1596 with a standard 4-seater
Sports; Weymann fabric; 6/1929.
Michael Hay, in his book Bentley:
The Vintage Years, 1997, states:
"Vanden Plas body no 1596. Rebuilt
on new frame after accident 2/30. In
USA. Last UK reg DE 270. Body burnt
out 1996." |
