1929 Speed 6, Reg
No: VF 6622, Engine No: FR 2649, Chassis
No: FR 2646
"I acquired VF 6622 around 1993
after years of 4.5's and consider
the old girl to be the most comfortable
and long legged vintage vehicle I
have ever owned. She's a genuine Speed
Six re-bodied Le Mans style in the
early 70's.
We've had some marvellous threesomes,
(that's my wife Margaret, me and the
car!) over the years, competing in
many continental rallies and tours.
In 2003 we shipped the old girl to
Jordan for the Jewel of Jordan Rally.
We participated in the Liege-Rome-Liege
Rally, the Rally des Alpes, Rally
of St James (in northern Spain) and
many more over the years.
I was asked if I would participate
in the racing sequences of a film
about The Bentley Boys. Naturally
they wanted me to play the part of
Woolf Barnato (I think it was my stunning
good looks, definitely NOT because
I had a Speed Six and happened to
be in the area at the time) Rowan
Atkinson played the part of Tim Burkin.
Needless to say I never received any
further offers but I am still available
should the occasion arise!" -

"This car features in my grandmother's photograph album in Salisbury in 1932. Not sure who owned the car — one of my first cousins has the album, but I will send you a
copy in due course.
My grandparents did not drive. There are three cars in the picture with initials
below -- presumably all friends. My grandfather's first cousin Charles Seligman was a
pioneer motorist in Great Britain, starting with registration number A906 around
1904 which he then transferred to his later cars. He had a string of Rolls-Royces,
but not any Bentleys to my knowledge (but maybe GK 2466 was his too, just possibly).
I will send you a picture of one of his Rolls's, although I realise you do Bentleys!
You will find my Bentley on your system, chassis number FT3223." |
