"My father purchased KL3590 in 1980, it was then very rough but drivable and still wearing its original Harrison body. He restored most of the car and it has belonged to me since ca 2005. All numbers are matching apart from the engine which has been changed, I don't know when. Engine is now NT3132, according to Clare Hay's book also a Le Mans type engine.

The body had some changes made in 1950 when owned by a R.S. Marriott from Birmingham, and not knowing what the car looked like before this, I was very happy to see Max Stark's photo that turned up last month. Some of the changes are clearly visible. The Stark family probably sold the car to a HK Jacques (not confirmed) from Orlingbury Hall, Wellingborough ca 1935. If anybody can provide me with more information or pictures from the car's prewar life I would be very grateful."

"I recently bought two vintage photos of the car and a newspaper article about the Bentley which appeared in four episodes of "The Avengers".

According to the article from the "The Huddersfield Examiner" from 27th June 1969, the owner of the car was a local businessman from Huddersfield."

Bentley 4½ Litre in The Avengers, TV Series, 1961-1969

Comment by user 'junkman': "UW 4887 is the only Steed Bentley that has never been really identified. Judging from the proportions, it is generally assumed to be a 4½ Litre."

"Hi Robert, My brother and I have been going though old family photos. We found a picture of my grandfather's Bentley with him and his sons sitting in it and the note on the back saying it is UW 4887 which when Googled turn out to be Steeds and it lead me to you. The question we have is does it still exist and if so who has it? We would grateful for any information."

"A few weeks ago I received this photo of KL3590 from Anthony Jaques, son of the second owner of the Bentley, he owned it from 1935 until war time. Thanks to John Anderson (Chassis No. 17) who established contact with Mr Jaques I could finally see a full view photo of the car taken before 1950, most interesting. Anthony Jaques writes about the photo:

"Story behind that pic (and why I know it is late April 1939) is that my parents were at her home on the last few days of their honeymoon, to which they had had to travel by train! They had anyway been going to S of France, but the political situation being what it was decided on Devon instead.

A month before they married (12th April 1939), they had a crash. En route from a hunt ball in the early hours my father ran into a level crossing gate, he broke his nose, my mother had some facial cuts, but the car (although bent and feeling sorry for itself still ran). Back to her home where my grandmother bunged them into bed together for ease of nursing! The Bentley went off to be repaired and they picked it up in Cheshire where ma's home was, before driving back to Worcestershire (Arley on Severn), now famous for the Severn valley Line, (was GWR). That is why the car slooks so brtight and shiny."

This explains the Bentley Motors Service records note about an accident in 1939 where the chassis frame, radiator, steering wheel etc. were repaired. Nice to know what happened and to get a personal explanation."
