"I have recently been sent this image of Bentley Reg No. RM3927, Chassis No TN1554. I remembered it from Johnnie Green’s book “Bentley: Fifty Years of the Marque” illustrated in the 3 litre section on page 25. (Acknowledgement BDC)
The accompanying text reads: This chassis number TN1554 registered RM 3927, originally fitted with a Freestone and Webb Weymann saloon, has since been fitted with a sports tourer destined for the Austin 12/6 and then listed as an alternative to their standard models. At least six 3 Litres were so converted. (Date unknown)
It was rebuilt in c. 1988 by Tony Fabian of Blackmore Engineering with a Jim Pearce Body.
Incidentally, the June race meeting should have been captioned Donington and the August trip to the Lake District passes was as a trial for the recently reinstalled Autovac — both events at which it performed faultlessly." |
