"MF3155 is the earliest 4½ Litre saloon to survive. It is the only known early model Gurney Nutting saloon in existence. Apart from the headlining and carpets, everything is original although the coachwork fabric was changed from red to green in the eighties. The coachwork has never been removed from the chassis during the periodical spells of refurbishment. Some extras were specified by the original owner, Nigel Digby Guinness, namely a fog light, a spot light, a trunk with three fitted suitcases, Lucas P100 headlamps, an altimeter on the dashboard and two roof ventilators for smokers. The car must have been used for towing a caravan as a tow hook was fitted at each end of the car. The fittings are solid nickel, and a few small parts on the car were chrome plated when new. The dash switch panel still retains the lead lined lettering." |
