1922 3 Litre 4-seater Sports Tourer. Numbers-matching with Roger Cook engine rebuild.

NP 1972 is a genuine Short Chassis with replica Sports 4-seater coachwork very recently refurbished to a very high standard. Chassis No 147, Engine No 26 is equipped with "B" type gearbox, Sloper Carbs, recently rebuilt G4 magnetos and engine rebuilt some years ago with new crank and rods by Roger Cook. This car is reliable and fast with a superb ownership history.

VSCC Welsh Trial at Presteigne in 1974

"Herewith a couple of photos of NP 1972. I bought this Bentley from the estate of Harold Bastie in about 1970. It had superb patination. The four seater body had been converted to a two seater by sawing off the back section of the body and replacing it with a large slab petrol tank. A very good runner and much used by me in BDC and VSCC events securing quite a few pots. The muddy photo was the VSCC Welsh Trial at Presteigne in 1974. Sadly by heavy restoration the patination like many Vintage Bentleys is now lost. A pity.

1972-1976

"I bought NP 1972 from the estate of Harold Bastie. It was a very good runner and I competed in many VSCC and BDC events. The body looked as if it had been a four seat open tourer that had been cut off to make it a two seater with a very large slab petrol tank on the back. Spare wheel was rear mounted. I changed the gearbox from an A box to think a D box. I sold it because the company I was working for were going to cease trading for financial reasons and I needed the cash to stay alive financially. Bad luck, otherwise I would have it today. Bought for about £1,900, sold for about £4,500.

I had previously owned NK 2791 which had chassis 26. This was a shed find, paid £500 for it. Not an enjoyable Bentley to use. I also owned GJ 4382, A Speed 6. Bought as a non-runner from Syd Lawrence in about 1970."

"An old chum of mine has the negative of this picture — not sure which owner it is, but if the current custodian would like a nice print, or to own the negative, they can get in touch."
