Our new 1929 Bentley 4½-litre is Australian based and heading to Canada and the USA very soon to tour with the BDC to Alaska then on the East Coast... this is an all original VDP Tourer which was one of 25 cars at the very first BDC meeting in London and was the first car to be strengthened after the lessons of "White House corner" Its chassis number is MR 3397 and is now Queensland registered WOB 29.

Chassis no. MR3397 is the car on right.

This photograph was taken just outside of Teslin in the Yukon Territories. It is not the first time the two (MR3393 and MR3397) siblings have met since 1929; they became reacquainted when the car was in the hands of its former owner in Adelaide South Australia in 2005.

More Info: According to original Vanden Plas Coachbuilder records, this car was originally fitted with Body No. 1558 with a 4-seater Sports; fabric; 3/1929.

Michael Hay, in his book Bentley: The Vintage Years, 1997, states: "Vanden Plas body no. 1558. "Burnt chassis" December 1934. In Australia."

"The info re chassis burnt 1934 has remained a mystery, cannot have been much damage as the body is definitely the original numbered body by VDP as I have all the records from the past 80 years (this month is the car's birthday!)." — Adrian Cook, Mar 02, 2009
