"I am the owner
of 1931 8 litre Bentley YR5097. My
late husband Bill Lassiter purchased
it from Gerry Bowes about 10 years
ago. I am trying to document previous
ownership/history and have numerous
gaps in my data. I was hoping that
you might have further information
or direction as to how I might find
out more about my car.
I would be most appreciative of any
assistance you might provide. Unfortunately,
most of the previous owners are dead,
as are their heirs... or the heirs
"don't have a clue".
I will look forward to hearing from
you in the hopefully, near future." |

This previously
'unidentified' vintage Bentley has
been identified as Chassis No. YR5097
by Olle Ljungström.
"Originally very odd VdP dhc,
later fitted with this Vanden Plas
body, similar to VdP tourers fitted
to YR5095 and YX5122. The cut down
door is a later modification. For
many years owned by S.L. Scher in
the USA, 2004 owned by a Florida member
of the RROC. Photos of original body
and present body before modification
are in Michael Hay's book Bentley:
The Vintage Years (1986)." |
