Car resurfaced in the U.K. at the Bonham's Goodwood Revival Sale in 2003 when it was bought by Stanley Mann, who recovered the original registration, and from whom the present owner purchased it.

1985-1988

Car was back in Sweden in the private collection of Karl Ragnar Astrom. At around this time we believe that it was brought back to the U.K., where the original body was removed, probably by Stanley Mann, who converted the car to a "LeMans Replicar" with a body by H & H. (The fate of the original body is unknown at this time.)

Information received on Oct 31, 2011:

"According to family story sold for 10 pounds after the War. Moved between London, Bristol and Looe, Cornwall."

~~

"I have attached two old family photographs from the late 1930’s of our Bentley GO 1789. It was owned by my grandmother, Minnie Mason, later Poynter, probably from around 1936-1948. One photo is most likely taken in Looe Cornwall, where my grandmother lived some of the time, the other outside her home in Southwick Street, London. The car was garaged over the war in Golders Green, London, then sold after the war, we think around 1948 but it could have been later. According to family lore, the sixpence a week garage rental was no longer affordable as the family business in Bristol was bombed in the war along with the house in Southwick Street and the family dispersed. I had always believed the car was sold by my great aunt for 10 pounds for scrap, until I recently Googled the registration number and saw the wonderful photos and history. Hopefully these photos will get to the current owners, please feel free to pass along my contact email to them.

One other point of interest, I notice the picture in the 1952 Wimbledon advert shows different, spoked wheels, from my photos, which are solid. My mother tells me she remembers the car was garaged up on bricks, so perhaps somehow the original wheels got separated."
