Superb all-matching numbered 1927 3/4.5 litre Bentley
"1927 Speed Model Chassis BL1616, Engine BL1614. This great touring car has been up-rated to 4.5 litre engine capacity, with new crankshaft and rods, and is in the assiduous ownership of a well-known and highly regarded enthusiast. The car was fitted with its replica Vanden Plas style Sports coachwork many years ago and has since been fitted with vacuum-assisted brakes and overdrive. The performance and handling are exceptional and this car is ideal for long distance touring."

1927 Bentley 3/4.5 VDP Tourer
This is a well sorted and reliable touring car on a 9’9” chassis.

Phoenix Crankshaft and Rods; Fully balanced engine with modified valve gear; Lightened fly wheel with Borg & Beck clutch; Servo brakes; Modern wiring with Regulator; Overdrive; Co-axiel Starter Motor; Twin Kenlow cooling fans; Full flow engine oil filter; C Type gearbox; Electronic Fuel Pump; 4.5 litre Steering Box; Large Fuel Tank (110+ litres); Blockley Tyres (600 x 21); Fold flat Windscreen with Aero screens; Penrite Classic Engine Oil HPR40; Battery isolation switch; Good weather proof hood and tonneau.

"Here is a pic of my Mother driving the car circa 1975. That's me in the passenger seat aged 2 or 3! My father owned the car I think from the late 1950s until 1980. During that time he raced the car in Gras Hill Climbs and rebuilt the engine and re-jigged the (fairly horrible) home-made body. He also rebuilt the engine some time in the late 1960s.

  More Info: According to original Vanden Plas Coachbuilder records, this car was originally fitted with Body No. 1353 with a standard 4-seater Sports; maroon fabric /maroon paint; 3/1927.

Michael Hay, in his book Bentley: The Vintage Years, 1997, states: "Vanden Plas body no. 1353. was saloon (1937) ex-Morris now Vanden Plas 4 seat reg YW 1994."
