1929 Bentley 4½-Litre
A rare short chassis car (only 10 built) which still has it's original Vanden Plas body (no. 1591) which was specially adapted to fit.

1. Flying Scotsman 2012 - Gregor at the helm of his 1929 Bentley 4½ Litre Short Chassis. He and Stefan Ziegler braved the elements to do battle on the now notorious ‘Flying Scotsman’

2. Gregor’s own Bentley, this 1929 4½ Litre Short Chassis was owned by heroic Brooklands racer Bill Pacey. With only 10 built by the factory, it is an exceptionally rare WO, with Graham Moss recently returning it to its original colours of blue body with black wings. We had huge fun with this shoot, with two young ladies snatching the car away from under the knowing eyes of the family chauffer. All rather ripping!

1929 Bentley 4½ Litre Short Chassis, ex Bill Pacey
Chassis: NX3463
Registration: CH 8280

Chassis NX3463 was built as a 1929 4½ Litre, on the 9'9½" wheelbase chassis. It is thus a very rare Bentley indeed, one of only ten such short-chassis 4½ Litres built by the Works. The chassis was built to special order for J. Ward Cox, with well-known racing driver “Bertie” Kensington Moir as the agent. Bodied by Vanden Plas, who fitted a standard sports four-seater body adapted to fit the short chassis, body no. 1591, the same body it retains today.

By mid 1932, NX3463 was owned by Bill Pacey, the famous Brooklands racer, whose other cars included a very successful single seater Bentley Brooklands Special that he had commissioned Wally Hassan and Wally Saunders to build.

Recently, NX3463 has had mechanical work undertaken initially by Elmdown Engineering and more recently, Graham Moss, who has returned it to its original factory colours. The owner competed in the 2012 Flying Scotsman in NX 3463, with it not missing a beat the whole way!
