1923 Bentley 3 Litre

"Hi, In the 1980's my father had Auto Restorations rebuild the engine but no body work was done by them at that time. Also you have the original engine 353 in chassis 260 but Ron Hassel, a previous owner of 260, told me only the cam drive housing was from our car not the block or crank case. This is a great website as a valuable record of our cars."

Joe Studholme took this photograph of his father, brother, sister and mother with 348 at Kingston in 1952. Note the angle of the one-piece windscreen, and its shorter brackets, changed by Trevor Timms to a longer, and stronger type.

Joe Studholme’s photograph of 348’s instrument panel, with a long, and gravel
of course, road ahead.

Joe Studholme’s photograph of 348 about 25 years earlier, with the bent and rather insecure mindscreen brackets.

Chassis 348. Engine 353. 3 Litre Tourer
This early 3 L was originally owned by Wardell Brothers of Dunedin. In 1957 Don Oddie of Timaru purchased it from the Studholme family of Rangitata, and about 1959 sold it to John Kennedy of Dunedin. Later this car was owned by Trevor Timms, who later sold it to Edgar Ridgen of Greendale, Canterbury, seen here attending to a battery problem? This Bentley is now owned (?) by Edgar Ridgen's daughter Katie Parish.
