1925 Bentley 3 Litre Speed Model Vanden Plas Open Tourer
POA

- First of only three production Bentleys to be fitted with Le Mans-style blade wings
- Exhibited at the 1925 Olympia Motor Show
- Retains its original brushed aluminium Vanden Plas Touring body #1195
- Comprehensive concours-winning restoration undertaken in 2012
- Accompanied by a Clare Hay report and detailed history file

A good car, a fast car, the best in its class. The 3-Litre was W.O Bentley’s automotive mantra come to life. Winning countless races, including 24 Hours of Le Mans twice, this model came to epitomise the sporting excellence demonstrated by Bentley both on and off the track.

Built in 1925, this 3-Litre is an outstandingly original example, 1195 is the first of only three production 3-Litres to be fitted with the Le Mans-style blade wings, and as such was displayed on the Bentley Motors stand at the 1925 Olympia Motor Show.

It is of no surprise that the 3-Litre was purchased on the stand at Olympia by businessman and Bentley Enthusiast Eu Tong Seng who subsequently had 1195 shipped to his residence in Singapore after being tested - as were all Bentleys leaving Cricklewood - by a fastidious gentleman known as Middleton. He tested all cars prior to their delivery, and as part of this exercise he noted every serial number and detail. This conscientious record shows, with the exception of the dynamo, this 3-Litre is just as it was upon leaving the factory.

1195 retains the original VDP body including the uniquely stamped floor boards. During the concours-winning restoration in 2012, the chassis and wings were returned to the original colour Manders Dutch Green, the restoration included a complete rebuild of all mechanical parts. Accompanied by an extensive history file and Clare Hay report, this most original of 3-Litres is eligible for numerous vintage events.

This car is for sale as of March 4, 2020
