Examining
the camshaft and rockers showed that some
of the cam followers on the steel rockers
were badly worn in only a small mileage,
they have been replaced with new from the
Vintage Bentley Spares scheme. Also, the
camshaft bearings have been critically examined
and refitted, and the top bevels re-meshed
to the correct tolerances.
Now I will set the tappets and hope it is
quieter. Will let you know.

It
depends on what engine you are running a
early 3 with spade rockers is going to be
a little noisy. If it is on rollers and
is very noisy it might be time to take out
the cam and inspect it. If it is worn, then
it is time for a new cam and new roller
rockers.
