It was the result of a conversation
with Mr. Hillstead, of Bentley Motors, Ltd., during
the course of which he enthused about the staying powers
of the Bentley car, that I conceived the idea of going
for the "double-twelve" record, at that time
the accepted "Supreme Test" of endurance.
