Recollections of Life as a "Hand"
With the Old Company the Height of Youthful Ambition
Attained by an Enthusiast "Upon leaving
school I entered the works of Bentley Motors, Ltd.,
at Cricklewood but that bare statement of the
beginning of a career in the motor trade hardly does
justice to my feelings at the time. The very name Bentley
meant more to me than any other name in the world; for
years I had followed the fortunes of the marque and
had studied the specifications of the cars (when I should
have studied other and duller subjects!), and my enthusiasm
was such that I was even known to my schoolfellows by
the nickname of "Bentley"."
